The Buffalo Sabres looked like winners for fifty minutes against the New Jersey Devils, but the final ten saw New Jersey rally with two goals and they win it in an overtime shootout 3-2. Patrik Elias snapped a 1-1 tie in the shootout when he faked out goalie Ryan Miller, who replaced an injured Enroth and ended the game.

The Sabres held a 2-0 lead after Thomas Vanek scored at 7:56 of the second on the powerplay and then Brian Flynn scored 9:56 of the 3rd. Thge Sabres looked like winners, but Adam Henrique scored a power play goal with Christian Ehrhoff in the box for holding. It came at 13:30 when Henrique’s initial shot was blocked before he tried again and fired it inside the right post.

Johan Hedberg was pulled for an extra skater and the Devils tied it with 1:06 left. Jhonas Enroth made the initial save on David Clarkson’s long shot, but gave up a big rebound and Patrik Elias scored into the open right side of the net. Enroth was hurt trying to dive back on the play and he was replaced by Ryan Miller.

The Sabres do manage one point in the OT loss and they now travel to Philly for a Sunday night game against the Flyers.
