BUFFALO, N.Y. (December 23, 2014) — The Buffalo Sabres today announced the team has recalled forward Joel Armia from the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League (AHL).

Armia (5/31/93, 6’3″, 201 lbs) joins the Sabres for his first career recall since he signed an entry-level NHL contract with the organization in June 2012. The Pori, Finland native currently has 16 points (7+9) in 21 games for the Amerks.

Drafted by the Sabres in the first round (16th overall) of the 2011 NHL Draft, Armia finished second among Amerks rookie skaters with 27 points (7+20) in 54 games last season. He also led Rochester with six points (3+3) in five games during the 2014 Calder Cup Playoffs.
