There is finally something to look forward to as a Sabres fan. After enduring two seasons of watching this team sit in the bottom of the standings, hope has arrived in the form of new players and a new coach.

Jack Eichel is the number one reason for hope and he will get his official start as a Buffalo Sabres tonight against the Ottawa Senators. Eichel has already demonstrated the talent that made him the number two pick overall in the 2015 NHL Draft.

Eichel has speed, power and great hands. Now it’s a matter of adjusting to the talent level across the league and the grind of a seven month schedule.

The addition of O’Reilly, Kane, Lehner and new goalie Robin Rienhart have created a major buzz as well. The Sabres should finally be able to score and be a threat in the other team’s zone.

New Coach Dan Bylsma also brings a reputation behind the bench of being a Stanley Cup winner. Bylsma has coached the Pittsburgh Penguins and Sydney Crosby so the expectation his he will bring similar success to Buffalo.

The Terry Pegula era has brought plenty of excitement to this town, but zero success on the ice. All of the new buildings and fan events will not replace winning and the fans of the Sabres are starving for success.

The pieces seem to be in place now to create that long run of success enjoyed by such teams as Chicago, Detroit and Los Angeles Kings.

A young team with elite skills, that’s the promise of the new Buffalo Sabres and it all begins tonight at 7PM.
