The Niagara Falls Sports Hall of Fame has nine new inductees and they were enshrined Saturday night in a packed banquet hall at the Como restaurant. Inducted were Roger Hailey, Mickey Kerins, Rich King, Ed Nowicki, Gary Martin, Bill Kowalski, Nick Tate, Carmen Porreca and Santo Candella.

Master of Ceremonies Pete Eodice called each inductee to the podium to receive their plaque and address the crowd,  escorted by a member of the NFSHOF Board of Directors.

Some of the highlights included the induction of 99 year old Bill Kowalski complete with a surprise birthday cake presented by Como owner Dom Colucci.

Roger Hailey talked about competing against Dick Butkus when he was a quarterback at Michigan State, Rich King detailed his relationship with former Syracuse great Floyd Little and Gary Martin elaborated on the lack of facilities and attention for high school swimmers back in his day.

Thirty current members of the Niagara Falls Sports Hall of Fame were in attendance to honor the 2016 class of inductees.
