Luke Tasker, son of Buffalo Bill great Steve Tasker, has signed with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. Luke Tasker was signed by the San Diego Chargers as a wide receiver prior to training camp but was released on the day of final cuts.

Tasker signed with the Hamilton Tigers-Cats’ earlier in the week and is currently on their practice roster.

Tasker will work again with Tiger-Cats head coach Kent Austin, his head coach at Cornell from 2010-2012 where he caught 75 passes for 1,207 yards and eight TDs in 2012.

“A lot of the terminology is still the same,” Tasker said of Austin’s offense, according to the Guelph Mercury. “There’s a lot to learn with the 12th man out there and some of the things are more complex than what we did at Cornell. The big thing is that there’s a lot of memorization that I already have down.”

The CFL practice roster is akin to an NFL practice squad. In both cases, the goal is to be promoted to the main roster. Duron Carter, the son of former Vikings star wideout Cris Carter, used a stint on the Montreal Alouettes’ practice roster to earn a spot on Montreal’s active roster this season.
