Jack Eichel put on a show Tuesday night against Tampa Bay on national TV. Eichel scored the first goal for the Buffalo Sabres in a 4-1 win on the NBC Sports channel and has commentators and veteran NHL observers buzzing.

Eichel has been compared to NHL star players like Mario Lemieux and Patrick Kane and he’s only played fifteen games.

With Connor McDavid out of action due to injury the NHL is now more aware of Eichel’s play in Buffalo. Expect more and more national attention given to the NHL’s number two pick in weeks to come.

Sabres coach Dan Bylsma recently stated that second year man Sam Reinhart is a little farther ahead of Eichel in his development, but it would be hard to convince fans that. Reinhart does more without the puck according to Bylsma, but Eichel certainly makes the eye opening plays.

Jack Eichel continues to grow in his rookie season, gaining confidence as the weeks go by. Eichel now has six goals and three assists for nine points in his fifteen games, but six of those are in his last five games.

Eichel and the Sabres have a chance to ad to their two game win streak Thursday night the 12th at the Florida Panthers.
