Former Buffalo Sabres goalie Dominik Hasek was voted into the Hockey Hall of Fame. Hasek won two Hart trophies as league MVP and six Vezina trophies as outstanding goaltender while a member of the Buffalo Sabres.

Hasek led the Sabres to the 1999 Stanley Cup Final, where he lost in six games to the Dallas Stars.

Dominik Hasek then earned his first Stanley Cup in 2002 after a trade to the Detroit Red Wings and backed up Chris Osgood during Detroit’s 2008 title run.

Internationally, Hasek is best known for winning the gold medal at the 1998 Olympics, the first to use NHL players. The Czech goalie shut down Canada in a shootout in the semifinals and beat Russia with a shutout in the championship game.
