The Buffalo Bills take to the road against the New York Jets Sunday in a key AFC East matchup. The Bills still riding high from their come from behind win over the Panthers and feeling better about themselves. The Jets and Rex Ryan will try to bring them back down to earth.

Coach Doug Marrone has not let his team forget that they did not play well overall against Carolina. EJ Manuel put it all together on the final drive, but the offense sputtered in the second half and Manuel had two turnovers.

Another area they must improve on is penalties. From the first preseason game the Bills have had numerous and costly penalties. It has to be something that Marrone and his staff stress going forward.

The Bills will face the toughest defense yet in Rex Ryan’s Jets. You can bet that Ryan will send the dogs after Manuel and try to create turnovers. The Jets front four bring pressure and EJ will have to get rid of the ball early.

If the Bills can get their running game going it will take the pressure of of Manuel and CJ Spiller has had some highlight reel runs against New York in the past. Fred Jackson will also be needed to pick up the tough yards and spell Spiller in the no-huddle.

On the other side of the ball the Jets offense has struggled with rookie quarterback Geno Smith. Smith likes to run the ball so the Bills will need to keep some one home to stop the scramble, but he has not been accurate down field. Look for the Bills “D” to get turnovers and rattle Smith.

Bills Coach Pettine is a disciple of Ryan and will surely pressure Smith in the pocket.

Looking at both teams I feel the two defenses are closely matched with an edge to New York. Offensively the Bills have the edge with EJ Manuel out performing Geno Smith. I’ll take the Bills 24-23 in a tight battle in the east.
