The Buffalo Sabres earned their second victory in as many days as they spoiled the Toronto Maple Leafs home opener 2-1. Buffalo picked up a first period goal by Cory Hodgson and added another in the second as Jason Pominville buried a shot after a feed from Vanek.

Goaltender Ryan Miller made 34 saves and held the shutout until 18:18 of the 3rd period before Kadri scored for the Leafs with the Toronto net empty.

The Sabres next face the Carolina Hurricanes in back to back games. Thursday the Sabres will travel to Carolina and Friday night they host the Canes at the First Niagara Center.
