ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. – The Buffalo Bills announced today the team has agreed in principle for Leslie Frazier (defensive coordinator), Bob Babich (linebackers coach) and Juan Castillo (offensive line/run game coordinator) to join the team’s coaching staff.
An 18-year coaching veteran, Frazier comes to Buffalo after spending the 2016 season as the Baltimore Ravens secondary coach. Frazier originally entered the NFL as a coach in 1999, coaching the defensive backs for the Philadelphia Eagles where he first worked alongside Bills Head Coach Sean McDermott. Following his time with the Eagles and after stops in Cincinnati and Indianapolis, Frazier joined Minnesota in 2007 as its defensive coordinator and went on to be promoted to interim head coach for the final six games of the 2010 campaign and then served as head coach from 2011 to 2013.
Babich comes to Buffalo after spending 2016 with the San Diego Chargers coaching the team’s linebackers. A 14-year NFL coaching veteran, Babich’s NFL coaching career includes stops with the Jacksonville Jaguars (2013-2015), Chicago Bears (2004-2012) and St. Louis Rams (2003) in addition to the Chargers.
Castillo joins the Bills coaching staff after spending the past four seasons as the Baltimore Ravens offensive line coach. A 22-year NFL coaching veteran, Castillo reunites with McDermott in Buffalo after spending time with him in Philadelphia. Castillo spent 18 seasons with the Eagles, filling the role of the team’s offensive line coach from 1998 to 2010 and then was the team’s defensive coordinator in 2011 and 2012. Castillo originally got his NFL start with the Bills, participating in the team’s Bill Walsh Minority Coaching Fellowship in 1992.
