97 Rock’s Carl Russo out ate 20 other competitors and won the coveted “Chef’s Meatball” trophy Tuesday. Russo swallowed 11 meatballs, edging out WIVB’s Don Postles who had eaten 10. WBBZ-TV’s Kim Piazza shocked observers with her impressive total of 9 meatballs in the allotted 90 seconds.

The event was held in Chef’s banquet room and the MC was the Wing King himself Drew Cerza. Each contestant was introduced by Cerza and interviewed. They then took their place at one of the 21 place settings and given an official Chef’s bib to wear for the competition.
The meatball eating contest was part of Chef’s 90th Anniversary promotion and to alert the media to the big anniversary celebration next month. On Wednesday, September 11th Chef’s Restaurant will hold the world’s largest pasta dinner eating event outside of the landmark restaurant.
The dinner will cost only $10.00 and proceeds will go to the Wounded Warrior Project with Buffalo Bills NFL Hall of Fame member Joe DeLamielleure serving as honoary chairman.
